The Storied "Tin Top Church"
On December 1, 1887, the late Stevens Bryant with his few faithful Liberty Street members organized what was known then as the legendary “Tin Top Church” at Liberty and Lafayette streets.
Founding at Liberty & Lafayette
In post-Reconstruction New Orleans, faithful believers gathered beneath a humble tin roof, trusting God to build a lasting gospel beacon for generations of African American families.
Reverends Bryant, Folsom, Columbus & Fisher
Succeeding Rev. Bryant was Rev. Folsom, then Rev. Thomas Columbus, followed by the lengthy and steadfast tenure of Rev. E.B. Fisher who steered the flock with unswerving faith.
